Green world of Gio-ji temple

My first trip to Japan was in July 2009. After the rainy season, Kyoto was so green! That time, I had the impression that I was seeing green colour for the first time in my life, and I didn't know so many shades of green actually existed..

All Kyoto gardens are beautiful in their own way, but the garden of Gio-ji temple in Arashiyama is the greenest of them all, especially during tsuyu, rainy season in early summer. The temple's garden has a wonderful moss carpet, and I can say that I prefer it to the famous Koke-dera (Saiho-ji temple).
